The procedure itself usually takes about 20–30 minutes. Most patients experience mild soreness for a few days after the injection as the healing response begins. Significant complications are rare because the treatment uses the patient’s own blood.

Studies have shown that PRP may improve ligament healing, reduce long-term ankle instability, and help patients return to sport sooner. It is particularly useful when there is a partial ligament tear that is slow to heal with rest alone.

Patients are usually advised to avoid heavy sports for a short period after the injection. Gentle movement and physiotherapy are gradually introduced to restore range of motion and strength. Follow-up assessment is important to ensure proper healing.
